Hegseth ignoring general's advice on war on Iran escalations, Sen. Markey and Rep. Moulton face off in Mass. Democratic primary, and more.

Hi there,

It’s Tuesday. The Washington Post revealed that four of America's most senior military commanders formally filed "non-concurs" against Hegseth's plan to extend 50,000 troops in the Middle East into 2027. These are not bureaucratic objections. They are formal warnings from combat commanders that the Iran war is draining America's ability to defend itself everywhere else.

Hegseth's response was to have his spokesman call the reporting "treasonous." That is the playbook of a man who cannot answer the substance of the warnings. The public deserves reporting that treats that combination of arrogance and incompetence as the danger it plainly is.

In addition, amid tech companies growing influence and risk, the Trump administration’s plan seems to be asking politely for companies to behave. And more mail ballots are being tossed for lateness than ever before due to Trump’s attacks.

Read about these, and more, with today’s stories:

Until next time,
