How data center companies have embraced SLAPP lawsuits, with progressives winning the centrists have moved the goalposts, and more.
Hi there,
It’s Thursday. A Harris County prosecutor says surveillance footage clearly shows an ICE agent intentionally running over Miguel Parra-Hernandez — a construction worker who has lived in Houston for 34 years — with a vehicle, crushing his legs. The DA said experienced law enforcement reviewed the footage and concluded the strike “is not an accidental strike.” The most likely charge: aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
This is not coincidence — it is the inevitable result of a hiring surge that prioritized numbers over vetting, a training regime that has been gutted, and an agency culture that has been told, repeatedly and from the top, that lethality is a virtue and restraint is weakness. Local prosecutors are doing the accountability work the federal government refuses to do.
In addition, how data center companies are utilizing SLAPP lawsuits to chill free speech across the country. And how centrist Democrats are already moving the goalposts with progressive victories poised to win in battleground areas on Election Day.
Read about these, and more, in today’s stories:
As Progressives Prosper, Centrist Democrats Are Moving the Goalposts (The New Republic)
Until next time,
