Smith College probed by Dept. of Education over admitting trans student, Trump continues falling asleep at public events, and DOJ demands names of 2020 Georgia election workers.
Hi there,
It’s Wednesday. Donald Trump, 79, continues to fall asleep at public appearances, this time falling asleep surrounded by children at an Oval Office signing to restore Presidential Fitness Award. The Department of Education launched a probe into Smith College for simply admitting a transgender student. And the DOJ continues to pursue Donald Trump’s delusional claims he won the 2020 election — this time demanding the name of every worker involved in administering the election in Fulton County, Georgia.
The Trump Justice Department’s effort to obtain the names of 2020 election workers in Fulton County is not a routine investigation—it carries serious implications for the upcoming midterms. When government actions target the people who run elections, the effect can be chilling—discouraging participation, undermining confidence, and making it harder to recruit and retain the workers needed to conduct free and fair elections. Framing this as process obscures its impact on democracy.
The public deserves reporting that makes clear when actions risk undermining the people who make democracy function.
