South Carolina Republicans stop Trump from eliminating Clyburn's district, the White House melts down about Trump's health coverage, and more.

Hi there,

It’s Wednesday. Yesterday, Trump went back to Walter Reed for a medical visit (again), and the White House melted down about the press’ coverage on Trump’s deteriorating health. U.S. Senator Andy Kim (D-N.J.) was pepper-sprayed by federal agents at an ICE protest.

And the White House is proposing NDAs for all federal employees to try and suppress leaks and other non-classified information from making it out to the public.

When administrations aggressively target leaks without distinguishing between classified secrets and disclosures in the public interest, the result can be less transparency, weaker oversight, and fewer opportunities for journalists to uncover wrongdoing or abuse of power.

Democracy depends on the ability of reporters and sources to expose what those in power would rather keep hidden.
