New York Times sues the Pentagon again, Minnesota officials charge ICE agent, and Trump endorses Paxton in Texas Senate runoff.
Hi there,
It’s Wednesday. State prosecutors in Minnesota filed charges against an ICE officer who allegedly shot a Venezuelan immigrant in Minneapolis in January, then lied. Trump’s policies dismantling health agencies have undermined the global response to the newest Ebola outbreak the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. And The New York Times is suing the Pentagon again, over the imposed restrictions on the press.
These restrictions are not just administrative changes—they threaten the public’s ability to independently understand military actions, especially during an ongoing conflict with Iran. When reporters lose access, the government gains greater control over the narrative surrounding war, civilian harm, and national security decisions. A free press cannot function if access depends on political approval.
News organizations should not accommodate restrictions designed to weaken scrutiny and silence independent reporting. Democracy depends on a press willing to stand up to government intimidation—especially in times of war.
