No Kings 3 draws 8 million around world, Trump threatens regime change in Iran, SCOTUS take on birthright citizenship.

Hi there,

It’s Monday. Over 8 million people from around the world joined No Kings protests, making it the largest protest in modern history. Over 200,000 join the flagship protest in Minnesota, and millions more gathered at over 3,300 additional protests. And this weekend, the man everyone was protesting called for regime change in Iran, threatening a series of war crimes if he doesn’t get what he wants.

Trump’s war with Iran is not simply about deterrence, defense, or nuclear containment—it has increasingly been framed, by Trump himself, as an effort to reshape or replace Iran’s government. Trump has openly called regime change “the best thing that could happen” and encouraged Iranians to overthrow their leadership, while U.S. strikes have targeted key figures and infrastructure tied to the state. These are not the hallmarks of a limited military operation—they are the defining features of a regime change strategy. By avoiding the term “regime change,” coverage obscures the scale of what is being attempted and the historical risks such efforts carry.

The public deserves reporting that names the reality of U.S. actions, not language that minimizes or obscures them. Democracy depends on understanding the true aims of war.
