Appeals Court says Pentagon policy illegally banned trans troops, Scott Pelley rips into CBS owners, and more.
Hi there,
It’s Tuesday. An appeals court ruled the Pentagon illegally banned transgender troops from military service. As striking detainee immigrants in Newark suffer, NYC immigration courts are speeding up deportations.
And CBS Reporter Scott Pelley took aim at Bari Weiss for ‘murdering’ 60 minutes after ousting the show’s executive producer, executive editor and two top correspondents.
For decades, 60 Minutes has held presidents, corporations, and powerful interests accountable. Weakening it weakens the public’s ability to learn the truth. At a moment when Donald Trump and his allies are escalating attacks on the press, dismantling one of the country's premier investigative programs sends a dangerous message: that accountability journalism is expendable.
Democracy needs more journalism like 60 Minutes—not less.
