The Onion acquires InfoWars, Virginia votes to redraw maps, and companies may get tariff refunds.
Hi there,
It’s Wednesday. Last night, Democrats in Virginia threw a massive wrench into Donald Trump’s plan to rig the midterms with the state voting ‘Yes’ to redraw its maps. With this vote, there will now be 10 Democratic leaning districts to 1 lone Republican stronghold, erasing gains Republicans made by redrawing maps in Texas and Florida. A former top DOJ official admitted Trump’s legal revenge schemes are hard to carry out because MAGA attorneys are too incompetent. And, in good news, The Onion has now fully acquired Alex Jones’ InfoWars — and will turn the website into a parody of itself.
The Onion’s move to take over and dismantle a major right-wing misinformation outlet is more than satire—it is a creative and effective intervention in an information ecosystem that too often rewards falsehoods over facts. By exposing and disrupting the machinery of disinformation, The Onion has demonstrated how powerful it can be to challenge these narratives directly.
The fight for truth requires persistence and creativity, and this action is a reminder that pushing back against disinformation is both necessary and possible.
