The Hound 9/11

Tracking the murder of Charlie Kirk and political violence in America.

Hi there,

It’s Thursday. Not only is it the anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks, it is also a flashpoint that demands we grapple with the deadly consequences of hateful, divisive rhetoric in America.

Charlie Kirk, a conservative political commentator, was assassinated yesterday at a university speaking event. This comes just three months after the chilling murder of Democratic Minnesota state lawmaker, Melissa Hortman, and her husband.

Kirk’s statements have repeatedly been subject to condemnation by this newsletter. But, let’s make one thing clear: We should be able to disagree — and even do so passionately — without killing each other.

Until next time,
