✍️ Petition: NYT, CNN, and NBC Must Cover FBI Election Probe

Major news organizations including The New York Times, CNN, NBC News, ABC News, CBS News, and The Washington Post need to devote far more attention to the FBI's investigation into the 2020 election.

Reports that federal agents are once again interviewing election officials and revisiting debunked claims about the last presidential election are not routine law enforcement matters. They raise serious questions about whether government power is being used to revisit settled elections and keep conspiracy theories alive heading into the 2026 midterms.

Yet too much media coverage treats these developments as isolated legal or investigative stories rather than connecting them to the broader effort to undermine confidence in elections.

Election workers have faced years of harassment, threats, and intimidation because of false claims about 2020. When the FBI reopens inquiries into long-resolved issues, the public deserves clear reporting on the potential consequences for election administration, public trust, and the people responsible for running elections.

We call on The New York Times, CNN, NBC News, ABC News, CBS News, The Washington Post, and other major outlets to investigate and prominently cover this story—examining why these inquiries are happening now, what evidence exists, and how they could affect confidence in future elections.

The public deserves reporting that explains the stakes for democracy, not coverage that treats renewed scrutiny of the 2020 election as just another political controversy.
